Cigna Coverage Availability & Fees
Cigna offers a number of different dental insurance plans, so you will have to take a look at your unique policy to find out how it applies to various services. In the meantime, we can give you a basic overview of how Cigna coverage works:
- Preventive care: Most dental insurance companies are all about prevention, and Cigna is no exception. Even if you have Cigna’s most basic plan, you can enjoy cleanings and checkups without paying anything out of pocket if you visit an in-network dentist.
- Restorative care: Coverage for restorative care varies between policies. The Cigna Dental Preventive plan does not cover any restorative services. The Cigna Dental 1000 and Cigna Dental 1500 plans cover up to $1,000 or $1,500 in restorative care (respectively). They might cover anywhere from about 50% of the cost of treatment up to 80%.
- Orthodontia: Only Cigna’s higher-end plans cover orthodontic treatment.
While PPO dental insurance plans allow you to visit any dentist, it is in your best interests to visit an in-network care provider. That’s because we have a contract with Cigna that controls prices. Coverages levels may also be higher at in-network practices.
Additionally, since we are used to working with Cigna, we can suggest strategies to help you get more out of your plan. For example, we might be able to schedule major treatments across calendar years so you can use two annual maximums rather than one.
